How many different releases of the SB Live! are there? I haven't found a good list, but Google has revealed that there are quite a bunch of variations, including an early 5.1 surround gamer model (before Live! 5.1).
Are they all driver compatible?

But basically there is the original release that's quadraphonic, the 5.1-channel edition, a few that don't have a DSP (some OEM and 24-bit models).

Great... I finally find my version: Sound Blaster Live! Value PCI

Y2K box: AMD Athlon K75 (second generation slot A)@700, ASUS K7M motherboard, 256 MB SDRAM, ATI Radeon 7500+2xVoodoo2 in SLI, SB Live! 5.1, VIA USB 2.0 PCI card, 40 GB Seagate HDD.
WIP: external midi module based on NEC wavetable (Yamaha clone)
