I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate edition.

I recorded a couple games using DosBOX's native recorder, which worked very well. However, when I tried to edit the videos in Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5, I discovered that the red/blue shades were inverted.

How do I fix this? I know that the documentation leads one to this link, but after reinstalling K-Lite different ways, all I've done is ensure that ALL videos display incorrectly. I need my video players to display the correct colors and Premiere Pro to display the correct colors. There seems to have been no activity in this regard for years, so I really have no clue what I should be doing.

I reinstalled K-Lite Codec pack 64-bit 9.4 with the 9.4.6 update multiple times. There is no libavcodec.dll installed with it anymore, nor is there any zmbv.dll file installed anywhere on my computer that I could just replace with the DosBOX version, so I really don't know what any of this means or what to do.

Please help.

UPDATE: I uninstalled K-Lite and tried the XP Codec Pack instead. Problem is that it seems to not have any codec at all for zmbv, because Windows Media Player and Adobe Premiere Pro both can't see the video in zmbv-encoded AVI files anymore.

I tried copying zmbv.dll from DosBOX to Windows/system, Windows/System32, and Windows/System64WOW directories, hoping that it would let it work, but nothing.

EDIT UPDATE: I wasn't aware of the "install video codec" link that came with my installation of DosBOX. I tried it (there were no errors or anything) and restarted my computer, but Windows Media Player and Premiere Pro both still don't recognize the video files--only VLC does (and VLC does play it correctly).

What do I need to do?

EDIT: Apparently Premiere Pro is 64-bit only.

Also, if ZMBV doesn't work at all with 64-bit, why is it still being packaged with DosBOX when there is such an enormous 64-bit OS/program share these days? Shouldn't something more compatible/better be packaged instead?

Since Premiere Pro IS 64-bit and I just don't know about it, is there any way at all to get ZMBV to work 64-bit? I've tried this updated INF file, but it didn't seem to make a difference when I installed the codec again.

Alternately, can I get DosBOX to encode in some codec OTHER than the outdated ZMBV?

Ah, yes you do, Mau. For future reference, that video is here:

This is very inconvenient for me because I only edit/render in Adobe Premiere Pro and having to get a 32-bit video editor to render all recorded video files into a format that can be read by Premiere Pro adds another time-consuming step.

If ZMBV is so clearly out of date, why is it still being packaged with DosBOX in lieu of a newer, better codec? Will there be a 64-bit-compatible codec packaged with DosBOX in the near future?

The fact that your editor of choice does not parse zmbv correctly hardly means that it is an outdated codec.
You could try something like ffmpeg to transcode zmbv to an uncompressed format first - might have more luck with that.

Also if you record separately audio (like from a MT-32) you will find the audio drifting out of sync. You can try other screen capture tools like fraps or bandicam. The recording difficulties is one of the reasons why I switched to S-Video recordings on a real PC.

Well, by "outdated," I mean that it's not compatible with modern 64-bit applications.

I never had a great deal of luck trying to record using either Bandicam or FRAPS. They would always lag out DosBOX, which is why I was hoping this recording method would do the trick.

Does the framerate vary while recording or something to cause that desync? Is there anything that can be done for it?

What I think is happening is that DOSBox isn't really capturing as per traditional means, but writing frames into a file. Screen transitions (black screens) seem to stuff up timings and if you record audio externally (like with Audacity) it will drift out of sync.

Sound Blaster / Adlib recordings though are perfect!

I managed to get Bandicam to work smoothly as long as I don't limit the frame rate. Normally I like to record my audio separately in another program, but I'll just have to record it live with Bandicam to keep the sync.

If you get a MUNT build of DosBox, you're actually able to record MT-32 internally. You can get one from here: https://github.com/sergm/munt_devel/downloads
It's also updated quite frequently so check often for new versions.

I had a similar issue, but I'm using Final Cut Pro X, not Premiere.

I ended up just running the ZMBV files through Handbrake to get H.264 files, which FCPX can handle.
