Who made those cheap boards with a Duron soldered to the board? I seem to recall they were questionably labeled with something like "XP 2000+" so trying to pretend they were Athlon XP.

ECS or PCChips maybe?

I'm almost positive ECS made some of 'em, because I remember seeing some with that distinctive purple PCB. I would assume there were also some PCChips versions too, since most ECS boards during that period also had PCChips-branded counterparts.

Here's one.

Pc-chips M810d Duron 1400+. Note how the heatsink is screwed down. I remember this.

Did a bit of hunting around, and it looks like the ECS versions were the K7SEM and K7SOM. I wanna say there was also a full-ATX one similar to the K7S5A, but I so far haven't found any reference to such a thing, so either I could be remembering wrong, or maybe it was some obscure OEM model.

Ha! got one of those in the parts bin - not too bad. Used to run it with my V5500 until I got down with a 'classic' Tualatin 1.4/Abit VA6 rig
