I'm experiencing a strange anomaly with a system I'm working on. If someone would run a benchmark for me, I would appreciate it.

I would like someone to test this with a computer that has an Intel ICH4 southbridge, as this is the board I'm having trouble with. However, to narrow this down, I'd like to see results from an ICH3, ICH5, and hopefully, another ICH4 board.

Additionally, this seems to be a problem ONLY in 16-bit protected mode! Disk transfer is fine in Windows 98se (32-bit protected mode).

The benchmark I'm using is CORE International's 1994 hard disk benchmark:

Please run the test once in MSDOS real mode (no EMM) and then again in protected mode.

The anomaly I'm experiencing is a disk performance drop of greater than 90%. I do not experience this performance issue while running the same physical disk in VMware or on another board which uses a ICH7 I/O bridge.
