I am trying to run an old dos program (which works fine in my xp computer), in a new win7 computer. The program is Namebank, which is in a folder in my C drive named NB230000

Attached is a direct copy of what appears in dosbox

I am running an old copy of Lotus 123 in dosbox, and everything works pretty well.

Any suggestions?

Put nb230000 folder into c:\dos then start dosbox (and change the autoexec part of that conf)

Mount c c:\dos
Cd nb230000
Nb

Reason? Nb expects its stuff to be in c:\nb230000, when you mount it like you did the real folder c:\nb230000 becomes c:\ in dosbox and there is no nb230000 folder anymore (in dosbox).

Many many many thanks. I remember that now (vaguely) from when I first started playing with Namebank.

Guess I have to get out of the dark ages and transfer my 4,000 contacts to Outlook or some other Address Book. Tough to map all the fields.

Thanks again,

Hank

New problem:

One of the things I use Namebank for is to manage my Christmas Card list, and make labels.
First step in that process is to "Write data" to a file in the NB230000 folder. I've just done that, but don't see it.

Have I just written to a virtual folder in the mounted directory? And can I get at it to use it in my real Word program?

Should be there. Dosbox only uses real folders, no virtual ones (after mounting they appear in dosbox elswhere but they are still real 😉).
Make sure you look in the right folder (I told you to move the nb folder, maybe you just copied it).

I have some questions about converting Namebank data. I've sent you a private message.
