I've tried to change display output, ems, xms, vga only options but i aren't getting anywhere, any ideas?

I have installed to D:\ via daemon from an ISO ---- should I mount a cd drive in dosbox which corresponds to the daemon ISO?

Yes. DosBox doesn't care for anything you don't mount.

thats great, i clicked as soon as i read your post.

I do have a second problem now... it seems that whenever in gunfight mode with enemy soldiers the game plays sluggishly occasionally, and then crashes also... a whole screen of text runs down the graphic interface and the secondary dosbox reads "X86 cannot run program"

Any ideas?

To fix the sluggishness you probably want to adjust the cycles. The error...I don't know.
