I'm having a problem with screen flickering in old DirectX games like Panzer General II and Baldur's Gate. Its a wierd screen flickering where there is a ghost image of what is on the screen flattened and flickering in the top third of the screen. The entire screen will also blink very quickly at regular intervals.
This doesn't happen all the time, it only happens every now and again. I fix it by running dxdiag and running the directdraw and direct3D tests. Then I have to turn Windows 95 compatability and AGP support off and on a couple of times. That eventually sets everything straight again. But it is a waste of time and quite annoying.
I'm using Powerstrip, and I am wondering if this might have anything to do with the problems. The games that are affected are DirectX 5 games I think, although the Baldur's Gate game is specifically patched for DX 8 compatability. I'm wondering if anybody else has heard of these problems or knows of any solutions for them?
