Ive recently bought yet another bunch of game lot, and in this is Thunder Blade by Sega, a game i loved on the sega master system (im even suprised that the game had a DOS port!)

Now the problems

1. If i try to do INSTALL on the floppy mounted with imgmount on drive A:

''Installation aborted. Installation diskette must be in drive A:"".

2. If i try to run the game from the floppy by typing THUNDER

The game will start, but will say ''Press Fire to Start Loading''. Ive tried a couple of button and it exit the game with ''Programs fails protection key-disk test''. There is no mention in the manual of any protection check thought.

I don't think copying the file in the floppy will change anything since ill always end up on that ''Press Fire to Start Loading" screen

I use DOSBOX Default setting

EDIT: Some additionals info
Windows 7 64 bits Ultimate
DosBox 0.74
The game is a 3.5 Floppy, but I did an image with WinImage and then used as a imgmount. I cannot test the physical floppy directly on my computer because it simply do not have any floppy drive (the image was made on a far older computer)

Thanks in advance!

So the game has disk-based copy protection that is not supported by DOSBox, and/or couldn't be captured in the imaging process.

That's not uncommon.

If you have Thunderblade (Sega), this game has copy protection with track 0.
The copy protection method is "Weakbit".
Most of early SEGA/Mindscape games has copy protection with same type.

It can't be emulated without crack on DOSBOX.

But PCE (IBM 5150) emulator supports to emulate correctly.

If you've legally got a copy you could go the abandonware route to download a version that does work on DOSBox. Admittedly not as cool as wrangling the original into working shape though!

My PC spec: Win10 64bit, i7-4970K (not overclocked), KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, Creative Soundblaster ZXr, 16GB RAM, Asus Z97-A motherboard, NZXT 410 case, ROG Swift GSYNC monitor

A more less gray area would be suggesting using an automatic program like Rawcopy and NeverLock to use with your legit copy, though I haven't checked if Thunderblade is on their supported list.

By going on the ''dark side'' (I.e. Crack). I was able to run the game correctly! Its a shame that I absolutly need to do that to play the game proprelly. If I can have access to a old DOS or Win 95 Computer, Ill try the flopppy to see if the problem is the same. Ill uptade the compatibility for the game

Still, thanks alot people!
