Hey guys-
I just picked up a 486SX-25Mhz Packard Bell Legend desktop system and it's giving me a beep code of 1-1-3. After some Googling, it sounds like the code indicates a CMOS write/read failure. I should also note that I get ZERO video.
I took everything apart and immediately de-soldered the somewhat corroded barrel battery, set the external battery jumper, and plugged in an external battery.
After putting things back together, I'm getting the same code. I noticed a soldered chip on there labeled Dallas DS12885S. I am assuming this is the RTC chip - is it defective?
Can it be replaced/de-soldered? Anything else it could be?
