Just a dilemma for anyone willing to listen. I was setting up win95 with a diamond monster fusion on an Asus p2b-b board. This is a combination I had used a LONG time ago before I went Win98, and this had been parted out some to ago.... thought it might be fun to go back to the original configuration.

Problem is - doesn't work, or there is some kind of conflict. Unreal will run, but oddly enough it doesn't display the "Loading" screen between levels. And sometimes it hangs on exit. Problem goes away when I select software rendering, so it's something with the video card. I upgraded to direct X 6 and rand tests, no problem.

I suppose it's possible the card is just plain bad - it has been banged around a lot - was sitting in the bottom of a box, no wrapper. Also, I no longer have the original install disk. I have drivers I downloaded, which are the right ones.

Not sure what to think........

check that the agp speed is set to 1x in the bios, it is the only speed supported by the monster.
also remember for win 95 you need agp drivers for the chipset.

Trailing edge computing.

Actually it is PCI, not AGP

Funnny thing is - the original Unreal Tournament and Half-Life seemed to work just fine.....the problem only appeared with Unreal. Very strange.

I eventually put it away. Not worth it - I have two other machines with voodoo 3 cards for playing Unreal.

But thank you for the suggestion
