Hey
Has anyone made Blood to run under Win 2k (of course with VDMSound at hand)? I've done properly all steps described at: http://netstruck.com/buildxp/ but I haven't managed to succeed yet. I'm using VDMSound's settings downloaded from the page mentioned above. Game seems to initialize properly but then it crashes literally few seconds after loading. Logs show that:
@E - 02:16:26.398 - VDMServicesProvider
NtVdmControl(0x0d,1):
0xc00000ef -
@E - 02:16:27.791 - SBController
Attempted to read from an unknown mixer register (register = 0x83)
@E - 02:16:27.791 - SBController
Attempted to write to an unknown mixer register (register = 0x83,
value = 0x0b)
@E - 02:16:36.993 - VDMServicesProvider
NtVdmControl(0x0d,0):
0xc00000ef -

What does it mean? Is something wrong with my settings? I would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance

In Windows 2000 you must run CLI2NOP. Get it in Deep Thought.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Considering that's one of the steps, I suspect there are other issues.

Actually, what he described sounds more like what happens you use Cli2Nop with the "aggressive" option.

Might try setting both sound effects and music to "none/no sound card" and see if it's still happening. If so, I'm betting his EXE was "overhacked" and needs replacing.

Well, changing music/FX settings to none does not prevent game from crashing. What do you recommend me to do in that case?

Sounds like Cli2Nop hosed your exe. Replace it with your backup (you did make a backup right?) Then start over with the "silent" test. Set it to 320x200 resolution and be sure to run it without VDMSound.

I have the same issue, almost. I can run the game without sound using vdmsound, and if i choose GMIDI for music and nothign for sound FX. However if i choose any soundblaster and any setting, (that corresponds to VDMsound) then it crashes/ freezes at the menu screen.
Any thoughts?

I have tried everything. even updated VDMSound, it didn't work. then i tried CLI2NOP, still the game works fine without sound but crashes within 5 seconds even in demos. Please help me out. I even tried installing win98 but because of my sound cards works with IRQ11, it didn't work either.

oh yeah! where's the caleb guy? i guess he can help me better. If there's no other way to run blood under win2k atleast tell me how to make it run under Dos. with irq11? any idea??

Whaaa? IRQs 3-11 were supported in 95% of games, IIRC.

I've also used dosbox... but it jerks.. and doesn't let me play fine. any suggestions?

You can't use a BUILD port to play Blood! Monolith modified the engine a lot. Also, nice bad link.

Yes, it’s my fault.
