You could edit the hiscore file to put back your last achievement...it shouldn't take more than 3 seconds...

Its hard enough to verify a high score on any game, nevermind a platform which is open and easily hackable. Twin Galaxies requires the whole video footage to verify a high score.

Hehe, looks like my high score from last year would top the Super Android chart.
(and yep, if you look at my 2nd and 3rd best, that was an extremely lucky game.)

Ha, cool! I started playing again since saturday, a friend came over and we decided to hold an Epic Pinball "tournament". Wasn't much of a tournament though, a few beers made this game way too hard 🤣

True, but then this is not exactly a popular game, so theres not really any reason to cheat. You can't win anything, except for having your name on top of a list on some website.
I just checked out this Twin Galaxies site, I see they have an Epic Pinball chart as well. But the last entry was made in 2005, and the high scores there are impossible to beat anyway. So I'll just stick to Cyberscore 😀

Apparently the level 5 torso test is bugged, it's worth 294,722,944 points per shot 😳

Speaking of bugs, this game has quite a few of them. On the Enigma table I managed to shoot right through mines and objectives a few times already. And the game crashes when shooting the leftmost ramp at very high speed, this happened to me 4 times already this week and that's what just caused my high scores to disappear. It always happens in the same spot, right here:

Aaaand... I just found another bug in Enigma. Perhaps the most interesting one so far... If you hit spacebar at the exact moment when the ball drops off-screen inbetween the flippers, it doesn't nudge the table or launch a new ball, instead it will just relaunch the same ball! 😳

edit: just beat my Enigma score again: 270,930,000 points 😀

Yes, people have been submitting scores from the very beginning. When I look back at Nintendo Power magazine and other old ones, I can find a section where players have submiited their high scores. Those days, I think some mags require the submitter to include a photograph of the score screen on the TV or from the handheld.

Of course, I believe most are honest submitters. (Cheaters have nothing to gain since there are no prizes involved, unless they are looking for fame.)

I think a recorded video of the actual gameplay where the highest score is achieved would be more convincing, since recording tech is feasible and easily available for everyone nowadays.

Also having a fast machine might influence the physics behaviour?

You know, I vaguely remember that bug way back when I used to play that table regularly. It ALWAYS crashed at about that same point that you describe.

I remember posting a message to James Schmalz back in the day when they had the Epic MegagGames forum on CompuServe (CIS: GO EPIC), and him confirming that problem on a few PCs. They never fixed the bug though.

I don't think that it does. I've played all of the Epic MegaGames pinbal games on quite a few PCs of varying speeds (starting with my 486 DX50 back in the day), and the physics have always "felt" the sane to me 😀

Heh, I even have the *original* manual that they shipped to me for Pack 1, *BEFORE* the final colorful manual was printed... nothing but a bunch of dot-matrix printer printouts 🤣! The label on the original floppies looked the same... an Avery(TM) dot-matrix floppy label 😀

BTW, I forgot to mention... the "PBM.EXE" utility works for *BOTH* Epic Pinball and Silverball/Silverball Plus 2 as well.

Also, the "PINHI.EXE" utility unfortunately doesn't support the "African Safari" pinball table that was included with the CD version of Epic Pinball.

That being said, the "PINHI.EXE" utility doesn't natively support Silverball/Silverball Plus 2 either, but I've managed a crude hex-edit hack so that it does... the edited version *ALSO* supports Silverball/Silverball Plus 2's bonus "Nova" pinball table as well 😀

Lastly, also in the ZIP is a hex-edited version of "PINHI.EXE" that is for the *ORIGINAL* Epic Pinball shareware version "Android" pinball table (not to be confused with the retail "Super Android" pinball table that comes with Epic Pinball). The only difference of that edited "Android" version of "PINHI.EXE" is simply so that it displays "Android" (instead of "Super Android").

P.S. I uploaded a slightly newer version of my "CHEATS.TXT" file attached previously... I accidently uploaded the wrong (older) version when I originally posted that message.
