Hi! i really need help with a scsi cdrom that give me a lot of trouble
sorry if my English is not very good
My problem is this:
If i connect the CDROM, in windows 95, or NT4 the system freeze because the CD rom tried to read all time, is like the system freeze because the cd unit is busy
Is like for some reason the PC "thinks" the CDROM is a hard disk, or something like this, because in windows 95, i get a weird error...
For example, i wanna copy a 10mb file from one partition to other in hard disk, the system will hang, because for some reason, windows tried to write in the CDROM, and give a "write error"
The hard disk works great, if the cdrom is not connected
In NT4 i dont get this error, just the system freeze with the CDrom reading all time, when i do file operations (copy or read)
I have a PCI SCSI 19160
http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/scsi/u160/asc-19160/
In the 68-pin LVD is plugged a Seagate Cheetah ultra 320 34GB
The 68-pin LVD cable have two connectors, the hard disk is connected in the last one, only this drive
The CDROM unit is a Teac CD-56S
The cable have two connectors, the CD is connected in the last one
http://www.teac.co.jp/dspd/product/optical/ju … /cd_jumper.html

Hard Disk is ID 0
CD is ID 1
In the CD jumper S4 is open, if close, i get a error "Incorrect termination error" is S4 is open no error. Anyway, whatever error i get, i can continue to boot, but same problem
By the way, the hard disk + CDROM works perfect in real DOS, no errors at all
Thanks
