DOSBox is for games, not applications, and I hope that this might be useful for games or anything that you use to set up a game.
I've thrown together two OS X "services" that paste text into DOSBox. They work this way:
Download the ZIP file linked below, and extract the files. Double-click on each; choose Install.
Now launch OS X DOSBox and open a program that accepts typed input (like a text editor or a text-input field in a game).
Now go to an OS X application like Safari. Select some text. Ctrl-click, and from the Services menu (or the pop-up menu itself) select "Paste Text into DOSBox". The selected text should be typed into DOSBox.
If you select "Paste into DOSBox & Return", the text will be pasted into DOSBox (followed by the Enter key), and you will be returned to Safari or whatever other application you may be using.
These are for 10.7 or 10.8 ONLY, not for 10.6, though you might make them work by opening them in 10.6 Automator and selecting "Text" as the input type.
