As mentioned before you may wish to use system libraries (but 32-bit) rather than the ones bundled with the DOSBox build (by modifying the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable). Since you're talking about Ubuntu 13.04, it is probably a matter of adding :i386 to each package name.

Furthermore, in case things are still not working, it may be the case that it's just better to rebuild an executable from the sources. I have not tried it so far, though.
