Good news. I just received a Fragile Allegiance disc in the mail today.

I ran some tests installing as Standard and Maximum in DOSBox 0.74 as well as Virtual PC 2007 running DOS 6.22.

I confirmed that 3 files are not copied in DOSBox that were in VPC.
D:\FA\_MA\_MA
D:\FA\_SCITEK\_SCITEK
D:\FA\_ZOOM\_ZOOM

These files were missing regardless of install type.

Prior to adding those files DOSBox would close without a message when the construction icon is clicked. After adding those files the problem is fixed.

I also tried breaking the game by changing my mounting to things I shouldn't.
My C mount was C:\DOS\GAMES
The install directory was C:\DOS\GAMES\INTRPLAY\FRAGILE

I tried mounting C:\DOS\GAMES\INTRPLAY\FRAGILE as C and surprisingly I wasn't able to produce any errors. I still don't understand why people think they need to copy the disc to a folder or change the mountings after installing. It might have something to do with misunderstanding a post under the compatibility chart for the game. But it seems doing so was not the cause of the problem.

I have everything working, currently. Yes, I did misunderstand something. I started using PCs right around 1997 and this is one of the first games I ever played, so DOS is foreign to me. I have rudimentary knowledge of it. This and Total Annihilation and they are some of the best games I have ever played, countless hours spent. I do wonder this: does multiplayer work? Has it ever? I vaguely remember there being a menu when multiplayer is selected, but when I click it now it does nothing. If it is possible, I would LOVE to match up. It'd be awesome to play against a real opponent/s with diplomacy and the whole yadda-yadda.

Sweet, thanks, I shot the guy a PM. So I've been playing for a couple days now, a little interested in some of the cheats. Particularly the ability to change the game speed. Uhm, you start it like it's mentioned there.
Right now you do your mountings then you cd to the fragile folder and then you start by entering fragile, right?
For this you start with
fragile blabla
(Blabla being that scheating arguments)
