Ok so I purchased a copy of the game and installed it using the installer provided to me on my previous post thread that got locked out. I linked it to dosbox but when i try to run the game it opens doxbox and then closes it. Nothing else happens. The only setting I changed was for dosbox to open in fullscreen mode. Any ideas?

Install the game from the original floppy disks or CD, following the 60 seconds guide.
One of the reasons we don't support abandonware is that we have no idea what those pirates did to the original files.

I had to delete the abandonware files and just install the legit ones. It works great now.

Vogons forum is strict in this matter because, Vogons which started as a support forum to help run old games on new systems and dosbox, has to be protected from being dragged into legal issues arising from "abandonware" usage, because it's main purpose is to help run (mostly) Dos games on new systems, and "abandonware" is usually referred to the Dos games that are involved. Hypothetically speaking, it's easy for the SPA to target Vogons, when they see "abandonware" games are thriving because of the Vogons community which "helped them run abandonware games", since after all, this is THE site dedicated for running Very Old Games On New Systems.

We all have our own opinions, the thoughts of rights and wrongs of "abandoned softwares", etc., but the discussion about abandonware is not done here, so as not to trouble the Administrator and Moderators with unnecessary issues.

Copyrights run 75+ years, so count back 75 years from 2013 and then tell me how much computer software is out of copyright. The only way it can be out of copyright is if the copyright expires (which takes a really, really long time), or if the most recent copyright holder relinquishes their rights and allows the software to be freely distributed.

Some people try to muddy the waters further either deliberately because they want to justify their own piracy, or out of ignorance by confusing people by bringing up trademark law. Trademark law and copyright law are not the same thing. Trademarks can be lost if they are not utilized for an extended period or the trademark holder does not take steps to protect their trademarks. Even then, a judge has to declare a trademark to be legally abandoned before someone else can use it. Without that legal declaration, the trademark holder can still drag violators into court. None of this applies to copyrights, however, so anyone who tries to feed you some line about copyrights being automatically invalidated if a game hasn't been published for several years doesn't know what they are talking about.

If you want help with your abandonware game go ask the website where you downloaded it from. If they don't have a forum go to a abandonware site that has the game and a forum and ask them. Thats the best anyone can tell you on this forum.

I was just giving a more detailed explanation why what some people have been told about abandonware being legal is wrong so this person will understand the legalities a little better. Sometimes, though, no amount of explaining why it's still illegal will help. People like to get stuff for free, and if you tell them they can't have it they put their hands over their ears and refuse to hear you.

I wanted to prevent yet another reply in this fashion. Obviously, I failed.

Catchaserguns: the problem has been fixed by using the original files. No need to send him elsewhere.

Final question, Any idea why it seems to slow down every time I click inside the game? It actually goes into a full pause. Im running it at 7000 cycles if that means anything.
