DOS / Win95
I still hate Win98's additions and changes to the interface/style of Win95 even though it can be 'lite'd back. like turning the My Computer icon fat.
Windows 95, simply based on the fact that it's the first OS I ever used
BeOs. It was fast and simple. Too bad it never went anywhere.
DR-DOS V6.0, which IM(Not_So)HO blew the TOTAL CRAP out of MS-DOS v5.0 (from the same timeframe, although different version numbers) 😀

My favourite Microsoft Windows OS was Windows NT 4.0. I used it as my everyday-use computer for about 14 years.
My favourite Apple OS was MacOS 7.5.5 since this was the latest OS to run on an SE/30.
I thought Windows CE 2.11 was pretty fast in its day and used it on a handheld MIPS computer for 6 years.

Retro: Win98SE, I may have said dos but Dos 7.1 is counts as a dos in my books.
Work: WinXP Pro, simple unlike Vista and above, and just the right amount of features to make it useful out of the box but not bloated full of useless crap (apart from movie maker)

This was my last classical main computer setup. Then in 2003-2004 i moved to Windows XP, and i still use it. Even if i have a good modern computer.
I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

Hmm definitely NT 4.0 Workstation, I really should have dual booted NT4 and 98SE at the time but I didn't cause its more effort then dual booting 98SE and XP for instance.
Just something about NT4 I really like.
On an x86 PC? NeXTSTEP for Intel. I ran v3.2 on a 486 66 back in '94.

Windows 98SE.
It would've been WinME if MS made it more stable/compatible.
So many combinations to make, so few cases to put them in.
My fondest memory of a retro OS is Windows 3.1 with Central Point Desktop. It was ahead of its time:

Not sure if FreeDOS and Win2K are considered "old", though those are my favourite operating systems.
I don't like MS-DOS at all, and really despise Win9x.
I like Dos 5.0 and Dos 6.22 Just the easiest and easy to learn to work with. After that i like windows 95 too because of the great dos compatibility (not because it dont support USB 2.0)
Every os has his Pro`s and con`s.. windows 98(se) is nice too, but out of the box its have a lot of blue screens..
But after all i think windows xp is the best i have seen..

Nothing too fandangeled XP, works and on older systems I don't have to hunt down drivers as much as 9x.

I've got a soft spot for MS-DOS 3.3, because it was the first I used when I got my 8088 decades ago.
Win98SE (with 98lite usind the Win95 shell) is another highly ranked favorite.
XP is okay as well, but it took me years to get accustomed to it...and now that I'm really comfortable using it, Microsoft is stopping support 😉
I always wanted to use OS/2 Warp, but I never really got around to configure it properly.
