i cant seem to get my perfectly running version of Quest for Glory, (actually Hero's Quest I (non VGA)) to get sound and ive loaded and installed VDM, and i KNOW so b/c it is working for me with Space Quest 5...do i need another sound program!?!?!

Yes.

Make sure RESOURCE.CFG is not read-only, then run INSTALL with VDMSound and choose either AdLib or MT-32. Verify RESOURCE.CFG was changed (look at date), and run SCIV with VDMSound - the intro should have sound.
