I have 2 cases with the somewhat the same layout (80MM cooling fan on top, 2 in the rear, 2 in the front, but also 2 on the side). Casetek made one and the other is a Thermaltake brand. The cases are beasts and I snagged them because they take ATX-E extended motherboards. The only difference I see is the HD section uses plastic rails and they mount toward the side panel.

The case does have a "Genuine Chaintech Product" sticker on the top right of the back panel. Not sure if its visible in the picture or not. Still can't tell the exact model name, but either way...it's a beast of a case.

How difficult would it be to find the drive door? Are the fans standard fans or are they proprietary in some way? All the fan mounts have plastic rails around them as if the fans are meant to just clip in vs being screwed in.

Yeah, the fans just clip into those brackets.

As for a door, Directron appears to still have a limited selection front bezels for the Chieftec mid-towers. Here, here, and here. They're a slightly different design from the Dragon (though they should be interchangeable), and your color choices are limited to green or yellow, but that's what spray paint is for. But that's also assuming they're actually still in stock... Directron is not always the greatest when it comes to removing old stuff from the website.

Alternately, I suppose you could try contacting Antec... they may still have some old stock doors or complete front bezels. The case you have is equivalent to an SX1040.

I had that exact case! It was a LOT later though around 2006 / 2007 just when Core 2 Duo came out. Had an E6600 and what a machine that was.

You case is missing the front door I believe.

I KNOW that chieftech was doing such cases a lot earlier. A lot.

Bought this Compaq Presario CDS 524 recently for £25 locally local pickup. I finished cleaning and testing it and just put out of the way in a cupboard.

I focused my comment on the 401ATs since they are the ones really useful for a retro-build... 😈

Not as exciting as the Roland gear but still good deals.

Asus 8600GT Passive at a yard sale for $5, PNY 9800gt eco off amazon for $15, and a Macbook pro 08 model for $86 with an extra battery from a scrap shop! Can't wait for the charger to come in 😀

Actually, that's White/Yellow Lab dog hair. Takes about 2 seconds for his damned hair to find something on which to attach itself - especially since he's getting his winter coat now. 😵

I also own a white dog. But mine is a husky/german shepard. You will NEVER wear anything black again. 😜
