Trying to get the speech working in old school PC game "Chronicles of the Sword". It is just not worth playing without the speech.....

I have tried all number of sound settings in dosbox and every time I get double speech rather than separate L and R channels.

I have also tried running the game on a PSX emulator. Same prob.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply.

Can you explain how I do this? As I normally run my games through Boxer on a Mac. I do have Parallels and Windows though.

I have tried the DOSBoxWiki link, but I am getting more and more confused!

Cheers

Did you try the vanilla SVN build for OS X provided by Dominus that is linked on the wiki?

If you've been relying solely on the frontend in Boxer to run games, reading the 60 seconds guide in the guides section of the forum will help you to become more familiar with the "manual" method of running games.

Ok, so I have done a bit of research and then I hit a snag.
This is what I have done so far:
1. Downloaded the vanilla SVN from your previous post. All good.
2. Created .bin/cue image files for both the COTS cds.
3. Mounted the images on DOSBox.
4. Can't install......refer attached screen shot

It is probably something so simple but I just can't figure out the command!

Cheers

I suggest keeping images somewhere other than where you're mounting the C: drive, but the steps you're using appear to be correct. Perhaps there is some problem with the images you created. What is listed if you do a DIR command after switching to the D: drive?

Ok. I have started from the beginning:
1. Downloaded the vanilla SVN for OSX by Dominus.
2. Created disk images for both cds, ie .iso, .cue/bin
3. Mounted the C drive.
Now I can't figure out the command for image mount for multiple files. I have looked on the Vogons forums and the beginners guides etc....
Is this something that cannot be done in the OSX version and I need to mount the CD rom of the game instead? The game won't run as smoothly I am assuming....

Cheers

I think mounting multiple images is done the same way within DOSBox on all platforms, although the path on the system is probably different. I usually see people on Macs mounting from /users/<your name>/DOS/CD/<some game>, but whatever works. The cdrom audio channel control is implemented for IMGMOUNT and MOUNT -t cdrom -ioctl_dx; however, -ioctl_dx is Windows-only, so IMGMOUNT is your only option on a Mac.

Why back and forth on systems? OS X, Win XP, back to OS X... shouldn't matter which one you choose, just choose one; because troubleshooting on two fronts doesn't make the process any easier. Now, what about that DIR listing I asked for?

Lol.
I decided to choose Win XP. And IT WORKED! Yay yay yay!
I re-created all the disc images and it worked; don't know what I earlier....

Thankyou so much for your help, and hopefully other people will be able to get it working also.

Cheers
