I tried installing a pci card in my p4 box yesterday and got some error relating to pci expansion rom space [I think: not enough space to copy pci option rom]. The card was one of those Hollywood Plus clones [dvd/mpeg2 decoder]. The card works in another box.

The box with the problem was:
asrock 4coredual-vsta
fx5950ultra
sblive
santa cruz
hauppuge pvr
firewire pci

Removing the hauppauge made no difference. Any ideas? Are there bios settings I should look at? Or is it just a matter of disabling devices and removing cards until the error disappears?

The manufacturer gave you all of those expansion slots but didn't think that anybody would actually try to use them all. 🤣

What make it more bizarre is that the Hollywood Plus doesn't even have an onboard ROM on it.
