When I close a dos game at windows 98 (like doom or heretic) I get a mensage "this softoware executed an illegal operation and will be killed.
Close all the softwares and restart.

If you find problems frequently, click on the button 'start', select 'help', 'solution problems" end finaly, if you have problens starting programs in ms-dos...
The error mensage is 00d:10000.

Also, quake 2 looks like isn't having any problem.

And it's the same error mensage 00d:10000, what does that mean?

It's Windows 98; it's bound to have all sorts of weird and seemingly random errors. 🤣 Try setting those games to run in MS-DOS mode.

Also, Quake II is a Windows game, hence why you probably aren't having any problems with it. 😉

What video card are you using? Have you tried different drivers?

I sometimes get something alike (crash when exiting a DOS program) when I use protected mode incompatible TSR with protected mode software.

Here you can get fantastic wallpapers created by a friend of mine: patreon.com/Unpocodrillo
