Hi, I've just recently purchased 2 x Voodoo 2 1000 graphics cards but 1 of them arrived with a capacitor broken off and loose in the packeting. After getting numerous quotes to repair it and the prices being almost the value of the cards themselves I decided to attempt the repair myself...bad idea! I've since partly melted the black plastic capacitor base and also broke 1 of the capacitor legs off 🙁 Strange that I've got no problem building a computer from scratch but I cant solder to save myself. At least I tried I guess....

Anyway my issue now is that I need to somehow purchase another capacitor exactly the same and also the small black plastic base to go with it. The capacitor requires the base as its not one of those capacitors that has legs that go straight through the PCB. The legs instead go through the plastic base and then rest flat against the PCB.

On the capacitor it reads the following:

10
16S
9G2

I've tried looking up these numbers on eBay with no luck so if someone could help me out with this, that would be great.

I've also attached a photo for your reference.

Thanks.

Don't forget to "tin" all surfaces with a slight amount of solder and wait for it to cool down before attempting to solder on the new capacitor. This should reduce the time needed to solder the capacitor legs on, and therefore reduce heat transferred.
Good luck!

Next time that happens and you don't want or have the time for new purchases you can make solder spikes on the pads then bend the pins/legs out straight then solder as normal without melting the plastic base. There are better caps for these cards anyway, re-cap jobs on a V3 can boost overclocking a little for those reaching for the moon.
