I've been trying for ages to get Moraff's World working in a high resolution mode to no avail.

I'm using 0.74, and I've set it up according to the DOSBox page (svga_et4000)

When I start the game, I choose the mode indicated (A-1). The loading text appears in yellow, and then goes grey. Nothing more happens until I press Escape, when I'm dumped back to the prompt.

I've tried various settings, changing machinetype to suit (Paradise fills the screen with ASCII diamonds, and a lot of the ATI modes crash DOSBox). This is all with the most recent shareware version downloaded fresh from RGB Classic Gaming. (Version 7)

Has anyone persuaded this game to work in 1024x768 with 256 colours?

That is what happens when the machine type is still the default svga_s3, so you apparently haven't changed it correctly.

FYI, changing the machine type at the prompt in DOSBox does not put the new machine type into effect; DOSBox must be restarted. So, change the machine= line in the conf file to machine=svga_et4000 and then start DOSBox.
