Hello, I just got TIE Fighter CE working VIA mounting the CD as an .iso and I thought everything was great.

As I'd done before, I downloaded the patch for TF joystick support from LucasArts.

Now the joystick (It's a Logitech Attack 3) will go through calibration fine, and function fine within the concourse and other areas, but when I'm actually in-game, it veers to one direction and i have to actually hold the stick in order to keep it still.

Has anyone else experienced this problem as well?

I know the joystick works okay, as I ran several Wing Commander titles with it, as well as some old-school Flight Sims my bro wanted, and everything went swimmingly.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated, and if more info is needed, just ask and I will provide it.

One other thing. i know it's off topic, but can anyone help me with indentifying which version of TF used the XWvTF engine?

I've been going by the year of release and found the year is either 1995 or 1998 when listed on eBay. Is the 1998 release the version I'm looking for?

I also found A X-wing Collector Series with X-wing, TIE Fighter, and XWvTF. Does this have the upgraded graphics for the games?

Lastly, if anyone has the XW and TF in the XWvTF engine, can you tell me if they left or cut anything out of it when they converted it?

Lucky last: Is anyone remaking or planning to remake them?

I've had this same problem! Timed doesn't do a thing either. I gave up on it years ago.

In the meantime Xwing still works all well...

Some FYIs:
Xwing Collector's CD-ROM (1994) is still 320x200, but has a few graphical improvements with dithered shading, and some sound changes/improvements like digital sounds replacing what was only OPL FM sounds (for the better in most cases) , and altered fm timbres (for the worse IMO).

The 1998 XvT-based remakes leave out the iMuse music for a John Williams movie soundtrack. For most of us, the dynamic score was essential to that game's experience... it's not something you think about when you play Xwing or Tie, but its absence sticks out like a sore thumb in the 98 remakes.

Cue evil laughter....MWHAH, HAH HAH!!!

I got it working!

Go into your DosBox Options and find the line 'timed=true' and change it to 'false'. You will notice the description of this setting indicates the exact problem.

Excellent!

It might work for me because I have only one joystick and may have a different type as well. The Attack 3 I have doesn't have the 'hats' like the Raptor Joystick I used to have, so maybe there's an issue with them. Unfortunately, I don't have my old Raptor to experiment with.
