Hi, everyone - this is probably a noob question, but reading the documentation, nor the forum, doesn't seem to locate the answer to it.

I'm recording many rather long OPL tracks from a game in DOSBox, and since the music usually goes on for at least 5 minutes in each track, I thought I would just reach the point in the game where it starts playing, and then pause and switch to another application - a browser, anything - and let the music finish, so that it gets recorded until the end.

However, there is often - not always, but sometimes - a problem, in that when I Alt-Tab from DOSBox's window to another application, it tends to slow down; once DOSBox is in the background, there is sometimes sound stuttering, etc. Is that something that can be remedied? (E.g. by temporarily editing the configuration somehow?) Or does it have something to do with Windows itself? (Application priorities or something of the sort...?) I'd just like to keep DOSBox in the background continuing to work "at full throttle", so that I know that the music gets recorded without any errors, skipped beats and so on.

If you use the built-in sound recording, you won't hear any of the stutters in the recording. Try it!

You can adjust the priority in the config file. The second entry is the background priority.

priority=higher,higher

Fixed cycles will also help.
