1. the cyrix 6x86 is known for not being a 100% pentium compatible cpu, and i've seen it fail to run a few tests(linx for example). are the 6x86mx, k5, k6 and winchip all 100% pentium compatible?
2. the k5 has two revisions of cores: the earlier ssa5 and later 5k86, are there any performance difference(at same clock)?
3. is the cyrix m2 just a rename(and higher clock) of the 6x86mx, or any performance improvements (at same clock)?

2.the later 5k86 has better performance compared to the older revision.
3.The M2 it's the same with 6x86mx, so no performance improvements.

When it comes to the Cyrix the later models do run cooler but they all run pretty hot and by far the most of any S5/7/SS7 cpu. You will need a good socket 370/A cooler to handle these espcially the early 6x86 and some of the early M2(re-branded 6x86).
