According to Putas on vintage3d.org, the Trio3D can run S3D games. Dunno how well and how good the compatibility.

However bad news for retro gamers is often broken compatibility with S3d titles.

The problem with that comment is no information about which games that were tested and no word about performance compared to the Virge cards. I've personally tested the S3 Virge GX2 (which is the fastest Virge card) with most of the S3D games and it works with all except Battle Race. Terminal Velocity, Tomb Raider and Descent 2 works with S3DRUN, but TV has glitches.
