VDMSound Mute?

Hi,
I'm using a Creative Soundblaster Extigy on a Pentium III/WinXP Pro system and am experiencing some probs right now:
1. After installing VDMSound, I if finally could play my old games, although some games' sound is stuttering. I could do with that (although I miss Simon the sourcerer..)
2. I installed an additional Soundblaster 16, but it made my system.. unhappy.
3. After uninstalling SB 16 (replugging the Extigy), VDMSound still runs, but the soundset of all games say they can't find the digital sound hardware. 😱
Maybe someone knows what has gone amiss, since VDMSound itself seems to be quite content (no Errors/Warnings in the Log).
Since there are quite a few threads, mail me at alex.aka.trigger@web.de

Probably some direct-io driver made its way onto your system.

Uh, I dunno. Shouldn't all those have been uninsatalled? There was no other new hardware. Except from browsing .inf-Files, how would I find this intruder?

You look for *.sys files that contain "Ke386" inside them. At least one or two should pop up, if they don't the search was not properly configured.
