During this time period I never had a laptop or brand-name PC (all were home builds); I also never had a console. The Athlon XP/Abit KT7A build lasted the longest (about 10 years) before it fried itself to death. The Pentium 3/Slot 1 build was the shortest - about 5-6 months before I sold it.

Of mine only two were store bought: the P200mmx [Micron MME], and the Athlon rig.

I like LGA775 and all the Conroe descendants very much and I look forward to staying on it for next 10 years 😁

This is easy for me because I can safely say my pentium 4 s478 3.2ghz on a 8knxp gigabyte board served me well from 2003 all the way until 2009 and then my Asus p4p800 took over just until last year where I finally upgraded to a core 2 duo e8500 with an Asus maximus formula x38 mb with sli ati radeon 6870 which is my main rig today. I was using some older socket 778 boards while i had my s478 to test out newer software and games but my s478 systems ran so rock solid for so long I really didn't feel the need to upgrade. Now I do love having my hd6870 s ...I know there are way faster options out there but for what I need I'm happy with my current setup...I'm not too into newer games and I still use and prefer win xp. I do have another core 2 duo that I plan to act as my win 7 system which again I know is no that fast but will be good enough for me. I7 systems are still too pricey for me for what you get...especially knowing that I want nothing to do with windows 8.

Between 7.2009 and 2.2012, I was using a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200-1NB as a desktop replacement. Served me well and is still being used on regular basis by my mother.

Sorry, if I don't list the rest.. too much to write and memory is hazy in parts 😉 I always liked to tinker with parts and I regularly upgraded my systems with better CPU, more RAM and a better graphics card.

My current rig is still going strong after 2 years and the only thing I might end up replacing soon is the Radeon 6850.

It's interesting examining everyone's 'front line' components without reference to the actual build - a snapshot of the evolution of a component. It's also amusing that we all seem to have an "unknown" 486 based part early on..

Im a bit confused about the CPU , I have a faint memory of being told there was a Pentium Pro in this machine, which could have been the case since my dad who built it , worked with servers as a job, so he may well have been able to get a Pro cheaper, however that PC struggled to run Red Alert 2 , so Im not so sure.

After that I used a P4 machine which wasn't mine for about a year , before that machine got hit with a power surge, and had to be replaced, pretty crappy PC tbh , quite slow, and had WinME on it

2nd PC (2002-early 2008)

I was actually pretty amazed at what a difference that Core I5 made to the games I was playing, it let the 6870 go to 100%, which saw Max Payne 3 running at 90+ FPS on full detail in most situations , twice what that Phenom II managed.

and yes I like ASUS products (I think I got that from my dad who was also a fan of their products)

If i looking to all of these lists, iam guess i have the most parts here.. And not everything is here at my hobby place.. Some i have down stairs stored in my temporary storage room..
I have different kind of processors here. But the most i have stored in factory trays. Now i have got six of them.

Maybe i will make some pictures when i have be in a good mood, and have some time to do so.

Your list need only include parts that saw real service in your main "Mothership" rig - your day to day workhorse - not necessarily every part that got tested or used in a backup/experimental/retro build. Segregating by part makes it different and interesting too. I'm looking for a way to cut through the mountains of gear 🤣
