Hi , iv just took a psu out of an old packard bell for use on my retro build but im unsure if its upto the job. the original pc is a plain basic 800mhz celeron, a hdd, a fdd and 2 optical drives, everything onboard integrated.
The psu is an FSP GROUP rated 145w, 3.3v@12A, 5v@18A and 12v@4.2A
The pc im hoping for it to power is Pentium II 233mhz, Ati rage 128 aiw 16mb agp, a voodoo2 12mb, 1 optical drive, 1 FDD and 2 HDD.
Im hoping for someone out there to maybe have powered such a spec or equivelent pc as i dont want to fry my build...Thanks.

FSP is one of the best, although they, too did suffer from the capacitor plague during a certain year-range. Just look inside to make sure the capacitors are not bloated or leaking brown electrolyte. The power used by the PII-233 is a bit higher, but being an FSP, it will likely handle it just fine. If it needs a recap, perform if you have the know-how and it will perform better than it did, new.

What area do you live in, by the way and can you give me the model no. of that FSP supply?

The pc i got it from looked barely used, no dust at all, like new. psu has no dust in and all components are like mint condition (strange for its age and from a market for £3). The model is :FSP145-60PNA(PF) . i live in the uk.

It shouldn't be a huge problem as long as it can physically plug-in - the PSU you have may be designed for ATX and the board your Pentium II has may want an AT PSU. That'd be my primary question - but I'm assuming things *do* plug together, else you wouldn't be asking. What did the Pentium II originally come with? (the last P2 I broke-down had a 90W AT PSU in it)

Agree with logistics - check it for bulging/drained caps before you power it up (if the PC it came from was known-working you might be able to skimp on this, but since you bought it used I'd say it's worth getting out the flashlight and taking a peek inside).

the psu is atx as is motherboard (qdi legend v). its a custom build with the pentium II, the pc i took the psu out off was a basic oem for internet. the pentium II board is mint condition, all as good as new. I have tested the 145w psu and it seems to power everything ok with no instability.
