Just wanted to post this in case someone else has the same problem I had with the KQ Collection. To install the version I had (European with KQ I-VI) on XP...I ran the install from the CD then I created the following direcotries (you'll only have issues with KQ I-III (the others are easy)):

C:\Sierra\KQ1\ and kq2 and kq3

next i copied the files from each directory on the cd over the corresponding directories on the c drive.

Now, delete the KQ1.bat or kq2.bat or kq3.bat files.
Now take the _KQ1.bat file and remove the _ from each file i.e. effectively replacing the file you just deleted.
Finally rename the sierra.com file to KQ1.com or kq2.com or kq3.com

Voilla you can now run the game using the KQX.bat file you created.

Hope this helps someone...I'm assuming the samething will work on space quest I, II, and III as well as Leisure Suit Larry and Quest for Glory.

Happy Adventuring.

The Sierra AGI games are very easy to get going. There is no need to do anything elaborate, there is nothing to set up. just run the executable.

True for the regular 'old' versions but you might have seen that I said the collection in which the install utility only runs in windows. 3.1 that is! So my little trick avoids having to run the install!

Which in the case of the collection runs (guess what) the install program! For the 2nd time I agree with the fact that all you do is copy & run for regular sierra games but NOT for the collection!!!

Do you know any way to fix this problem on Mac OSX? I am trying to install games from the Space Quest Collection, and I am having the same problem, I think. But since there is no actual c-drive on the mac, there is no physical place on my HD to copy the files to.

Can you offer any advice?

Thanks.

right...but I can't get the games to install in the first place. Only the first two work. If I try any others, it either does nothing, or says "eOut of environment space" and then tries to install the first game instead.

Any ideas?

Well you can't use the installer on the CD. You HAVE to copy the game directories off of the CD to your hard drive using either DosBox or whatever file manager OSX uses to a location on your hard drive.

You then mount this location in DosBox as your C:\ drive.

Also make sure that the game files do not have the Read-Only attribute set.

I can't really get more specific than that since I do not use OSX but the error message you posted is correct if your trying to use the installer which doesn't work under DosBox. (It's a pretty messed up install method anyway).
