Where does one get a socket 3 CPU heatsink and how does it attach? For now I am using an old AM2 heatsink but it just lays on the CPU
Obviously that won't work out so well when it is mounted in the case

Missing one too.
I have seen heatsinks glued to a socket 3 CPUs, but some have plastic clamps that grip on the lower edges of the CPU. This only works because a spacing of about 2mm remains between the 486 ceramic and the socket. This spacing is there already because four of the CPU pins have a thicker base.
Pentium CPU's are larger in size already.
As a last resort method I was thinking of tying it with fishing wire 🤣

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems crazy the CPU says "heatsnk req'd" yet it is hard to find a heatsink or way to attach it.
My socket does have two small plastic that looks like it is for holding a HS
You can get nice northbridge coolers on ebay that come with an adhesive heat-pad, and they usually cost very little money. This is what I use on my 486DX4.
If you look around a bit, you should be able to find the ones that attach to the sides of the cpu as well, and as with the others, they're usually cheap.

DOS6.22 : Intel DX4, 64MB RAM, 1.6GB HDD, Diamond Stealth64 DRAM, GUS 1MB, SB16.
I personally dislike the "use arctic silver adhesive" method because there is a good chance that you scratch the CPU's top on cleaning it.
So I stocked up 3-4 of these coolers --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMPUSA-486-CPU-COOLE … =item58919433c0 when I got the chance to get them for free from a friend. 😀
