Hello everyone. i hope someone could help me resolve my problem.

I got recently a Epson equity lt 286. It came with 640kb of ram and a 20mb HDD.
I did upgrade the memory to 4mb.

Heres the problems, the computer cannot detect the additional memory and the HDD installed.
The computer supose to came with a Reference disk on 1 floppy that let you setup the computer and save it in the bios/cmos.
So i need the Reference disk to be able to detect the additional memory and the HDD.
Is there anyway or someone who can tell me how i can find the Reference disk for this computer?

thanks

Hi Yukin,
Im looking for the same thing and started a thread out here: http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showt … -286-setup-disk
As you can see we already put a lot of effort into it to find it.

So If possible we could join forces to search for a copy of this disk.

Stay Tuned!

Hi Yukin,

Finally got it.

1) Create a DOS boot floppy
2) Download GSETUP (version 3.0 2/88) here http://ibm-pc.org/utilities/system/GSETUP.zip . Note that other versions of GSETUP do not work!
3) Extract the file "GSETUP.EXE" to the root of the DOS boot floppy
4) Start your Epson Equity LT 286 with the DOS boot floppy
5) Execute GSETUP (might look a bit scrambled due to the wrong screen resolution)

Within GSETUP:
1) Choose "[1] Setup CMOS RAM Parameters"
2) Edit the following parameters:

   [0] Date: -
[1] Time: -
[2] Floppy Disk A: DS/HD 1.44m 3 1/2"
[3] Floppy Disk B: Not installed
[4] Hard Disk 1 (C:): Type 2
[5] Hard Disk 2 (D:): Not installed
[6] Base Memory: 640k
[7] Expansion Memory: System dependent
[8] Math Coprocessor: System dependent
[9] Primary Display: Color/80

3) Press "escape" and choose "[4] Exit" to reboot your Laptop.
4) Enjoy

Kind Regards,
Ruben Geurts

I know I am late and that this thread is almost as ancient as this laptop, but I recently aquired the same and it came with the original disks. Googling for details about the device, I always come across this thread in the top results, so finally let me add a copy of the original reference disk and setup disks with EMM drivers which I uploaded to web archive: https://archive.org/details/epson-disk-images
