Along with a 486 system I acquired, I also got a free 2GB HDD, a CHAMP C2000-3AF. It didn't have anything I'm interested in on it except some pictures of some old man and his family, a few porn pics in the temporary internet files, and a Win95 Install with various software.

So I wiped the MBR and entered HD Tune Pro and low-leveled it. Then I ran benchmarks on it--this thing will not test above about 2.2MB/s. I'm assuming something is set wrong because it says it supports Multiword DMA Mode 2, which should support 16.7MB/s. Not that the drive is that fast, but it should test higher than 2.2MB/s, shouldn't it?

I had to manually enable Write-Caching on the drive, which didn't improve the benchmark when I started it so I just stopped and looked for other answers.

Any ideas?

What drive?, seagate? conner?
They are that slow, make sure you run it on master mode, not slave mode.

JTS Corp. is the manufacturer. It's a very basic drive, it has no SMART abilities so I can't read any of it's history with HD Tune Pro.
