Hi all...
I mentioned once, that i gotten sb16 emultion on sb-live working in dos. That is ok.
My problem is, that whenever i try another game, the sb16 is somewhat killed.
If i restart my computer, the emulation is back on.

Have any of you, had this odd bug and how could it possibly be solved?

When I think about it, the problem may be, that games uses some memmory where sb16 emulation is run.
Or the problem is that the soundcard is having some sort of hardware bug.

Well... Have tried it, yet of no luck.
Just played some syndicate, and after some time, the sound just drops out.
It is as if something is conflicting in my machine.

EDIT
I have tried a different IRQ for the sblive-board it self. Changed it from 10 to 11.
The reason was, that the onboard gfx had IRQ 10.
The same problem comes, just a bit later. Never the less, it is still present.

That is the only thing that i can not do. Only two pci slots in the computer, sadly. 🙁
Prallel, serial and other devices are disabled too. Only vga floppy, ide and soundcard are given a IRQ in the system.

Anyway....
I totally forgot to mention that the computer in question is a Hp/Compaq d530-SFF.
One gigabyte of ram and a pata harddrive. Onboard vga.

Nope. Sorry.
The live card it self, is located at IRQ-10 and IRQ-PORT-1000. The SB16 emulation is at IRQ5 and I have tried IRQ7 as well.
These settings are correctly written, in the ini-file, located in the "dosdrv" directory as well.
My matrox g400 is located at IRQ11, and everything else such as serial, parallel and usb is disabled in bios.
(yeah.... I have moved the board into an atx cab' and installed a matrox g400 dual head)
This is the setup I have used (allmost, only matrox now) every time.

I am beginning to wonder, if the problem is some sort of memmory conflict, wich the games are using.
Is there a way, to "lock" the sb16-tsr wich is located in the memmory?

That doesn't make any sense.

Do you have any particular power management options enabled in your BIOS?

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe 1 GB of RAM is too much for some reason. I think you can limit it by using HIMEMX (a freeware alternative to HIMEM) before using EMM386.

Well... It was just a thought I had. For example.
When I play doom, it is just fine and dandy, for the first half hour or so. Then the soundcard makes a pretty loud noice, and I have to reboot.
When I play doom for 10 minnutes, then exit the game and load pinball fantasies, then I can play one table and the sound is lost when I exit to the main menu. So, yeah... Maby it is too much ram. Or maby some defect in the memmory. I will try and run memtest.

Anyhow....
I have tried the Asrock K7s41 (not K7S41-GX) mainboard and no SB-Live-dos support. As well as the Asrock P4V88 (not the + edition) and no SB-Live-Dos support eighter.... Yeah... And the P5B-VM as well, No support there eighter, besides Midi playback.

Okay.... Back with an answer.
When I run memtest, and reboots my computer. Then the live makes a horrible loud screaming noice.
If i turn off all power and makes a cold-boot, then I can play fine, untill i try another game.
Then the emulation is lost....

It seems like something is written in the memmory, and not flushed the right way.
I will try some other maker of memmory.
