Hello all,

Iam trying to fix a `death` 286 suntac motherboard.. It has slightly corrosion on the PCB.. But when i look the PCB top that corrosion isnt bad either.. Because there arent traces cut..
So i bet this motherboard should be fine..

I have sticked a AT keyboard on it.. (that didnt get slight easy, but after some attemps i have got it connected) ( I will replace that later)
This was one of the boards i bought from ebay (as is). Yes i know there is mostly something wrong with those boards. But mostly the solution is mostly easy fixed.

So i tried to see it the board would give some start up screen. The board uses the suntac chipset.. It look like the one board i started a thread with. I also know to solution for that one to.
But on this motherboard it wont show any screen.. But actually i think i knowing whats the problem.. When i turn on the power switch, it seems the leds on the keyboard would stays on..
So i guess there is something wrong with the keyboard bios.. So i removed it and checked it on ebay what the IC needs to be..

There is written M5L8042-165p on it.. Iam doubt if this would be a keyboard bios, but i think someone had tried to replaced the original keyboard bios with a CPU thing?

I know this IC came from the brand mitshubishi.. But i really want to identify if this is a cpu instead of a keyboard bios?
Can someone help with this one? Can you also tell me where this CPU is used for?

I also have an other keyboard bios laying around, so i will try that one too. And see if the board would live again.

I noticed that a 486 without any BIOS installed, or when failing to load the BIOS, will also have the three keyboard LEDs on. 'Keyboard LEDs on' seems to be the default starting situation.
