Hello everyone,

I recently decided to play my old beloved tyrian again. I thought the game would run nice with vdmsound like all my other games do. Unfortnately it doesn´t 🙁 I already read through all the threads reagarding tyrian, but I didn´t find a fix for my problem. Well at least I belive that it is possible to play Tyrian with Music AND Sound FX.

When I run Setup.exe with vmdsound active I can choose FM Sound or Midi for Music. As far it is working fine, the music is a bit slow but I can play the game and hear it.

When I try to change the Sound option to soundblaster I get error 253 which means the game doesn´t detect my Soundcard. Now the strange thing happens: I get sound in the setup Menu! The Problem is in the sound menu the game defaults to no sound after the 253 error, so when I exit and save I have the no sound option activated. I doubt the game could run with sound, but unfortunately I have no idea which settings have to be entered in the tyrian.cfg to get it to work. The bad thing is the file is encrypted. Well I guess a possible fix would be someone who still owns an old pc with a soundblaster card who sets the right options in the setup menu and could give us his tyrian.cfg file.

So what we exactly need would be:

Someone who has an older PC with a soundblaster Card and owns Tyrian. You then could run setup and change the sound it to soundblaster. After that please share your tyrian.cfg file with us and give us the information about which DMA was used.

I know it sounds a bit complicated, but I really belive if someone could get up this file every Tyrian Player could enjoy the game like in old times. I really hope someone could do it. Thanks in advance!
