I ordered a K6-2 300/AFR-66 cpu off ebay, what the seller sent me was a K6 300/ADZ 2.1V mobile cpu. I've tried to contact the seller but he's not replying and won't take refunds. I know I could take this further and I might, but I first have to wait for him to ship something else I had bought off him before I recieved that wrong cpu. Don't want to tick off the seller before he ships the cable I need 😢

, worse case can I use this K6 300 mobile in a regular board? It looks exactly like a regular K6/K6-2 just it takes 2.1V. I have the ASUS TX97-E which has the latest 1220E BIOS? Thanks,

You have to make sure the mobo will support the required voltage for a mobile k6. Otherwise I probably would return it, or use a better mobo.

Mobile k6's are better. But I would return it if it has less cache than what you expected, voltage not supported on mobo, or you were expecting a k6-3+ (which are mobile cpus BTW). You got a better cpu than promised, but if what I stated in my second sentence is true I would try returning it. No point in overvolting unless it's within tolerance and you want to overclock.

So a K6 Mobile is better than a desktop K6-2 ?

No. There is no 3DNow! in all K6, mobile included. It was added in K6-2.
Except this - mobile variants have lower voltage=lower TDP. Disadvantages: the critical temp is lower too.

Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400B,
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
Voodoo2 12 MB SLI, Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

Yup they all have the same L1 size and of course the L2 cache is 256K on K6-3/+ and 128k on K6-2+.

Gamecollector is right. K6 is has no l2cache and it's considerably worse. Return it and get a refund. Unless you'll lose money after shipping... Sorry about my mistake.

The K6-2 he ordered wouldn't have L2 cache either. He's only missing 3DNow and that's less of an issue than one might think. Very few games use 3DNow well and those games would still be much better played by avoiding K6 CPUs.

IIRC a K6 Mobile should be even slower at Quake than a K6-2. Expect PMMX speeds (~40fps start.bsp 320x200 timerefresh).

Oh I forgot about the write allocation / write merge features of K6-2. But I think you need Chomper XT. K6-2 below 350 MHz may be plain Chomper.
