My custom-made cables for my Music Quest MQX-32M arrived today, and I was able to try them out with the card and my MT-32. I believe that the card and cable are working properly (read below), but I can't get them to interface with my MT-32.

I went to this webpage to get the DIP switch settings and drivers file: http://www.endprod.com/midi/mqx32m.htm

Unfortunately, the page's link to a PDF version of the manual is no longer live. I emailed the owner of the page but haven't gotten a response in about a week.

The drivers file includes a number of utilities. I used one called MQTEST, and it confirmed that my MQX-32M was using address 330 and IRQ 2/9. I needed to use standard midi cables to complete the test (connect the cable's IN1 to OUT1 and IN2 to OUT2), so I believe all cables are functional. Also, the program MQDIAG (Music Quest Utilities and Diagnostics 4.40) recognizes the card at the same address and IRQ. FWIW, the EPROM version is M11-028.

I know that the MT-32 works because I have been using it with SoftMPU. So far I've been testing using Police Quest 1 (remake) and Space Quest IV.

I'm pretty sure that I need to use a program called MQSETUP on the driver disk to initialize the card, but I need the manual because the process isn't intuitive. Does anyone have a copy of the manual or have any experience setting up this particular card? I'm a real noob with the MT-32, so if you could also tell me which "out" cable to connect to which "in" port (and vice versa), I'd appreciate it. Thanks much in advance!

Thanks, Mau1wurf. Sorry all -- problem solved, I think. The custom cable came with a 9-pin dsub adapter that needs to be connected.
