I just learned about DosBox and gave it a try to play an old game I used to love.
However my tries so far have failed and being ont exactly savvy in these things I'm stuck.

I'm on Windows7 32 bits.
Have tried DOSBox version 0.74 and the D-Box frontend.
On DOSBox main window I get the following error:
Error 75 at pgm-ctr: 23294C:\>
In the Status Window it says:
CONFIG:Loading primary from config file C:\Users\[myname]\AppData\Local\DOSBox\dosbox-0.74.conf
MIDI: Opened device:win32
DOS keyboard layout loaded with main language code IT for layout it
SHELL:Redirect output to tnm.pid
Warning: file C:\tnm7\DATA\FOBJECTS.DAT exists and failed to open in write mode.
Please remove write-protection

D-Box just tells me that it encountered an error and close the window.

If anybody can offer some assistance I'll truly appreciate it.
Please and thanks

Thank you all guys for your replies. I appreciate it.

The game I'm trying to play is a little known, old wreslting simulation called TNM7. The game came with all the files inside a .zip and all the needed files to run the game are in the folder C:\TNM7.
I verified in Win7 and I have all the necessary privileges to write into all the sub-folders of the game and no file look to my untrained eye to be write protected. (I right clicked on those files and folders and looked into their properties and permissions, if you guys know a different method to check that please share)

what I did exactly was:
- launch DOSBox
- mount C C:\TNM7
- C:
- C:\dir - to make sure it was properly mounted
- C:\TNM.BAT - at this point it gave me the error

Thanks again

put the game folder into C:\Dosgames, then
mount c c:\dosgames
c:
cd tnm7
tnm.bat
maybe this works, if not copy/paste the contents of the bat file.

Thank you so much.
Copying the content to C:\dosgames worked like a charm.

Hi, sorry to bump an old thread. I'm having a similar issue to what is stated in this post. However I'm not trying to run a game.
I have a customer who uses a DOS based program to book deliveries. They need this to run full-screen on their PCs. I have used DOSBox to create a full-screen environment. The problem I am having is that when I run the piece of software I get a permissions error (I'm guessing) meaning that a certain file can not be written to, causing program to not function correctly. I have attached some images so you can see the mounting process etc.

The attachment DosBox1.PNG is no longer available
The attachment DosBox2.PNG is no longer available

The file in question is on a server, I am able to create a directory and remove a directory. So I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing the issue.

Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any other software out there that does something similar though? We've tried many things. VMWare server running XP machines that the client RDPs to. But the RDP protocol kills the full-screen operation. Tried running natively, had a solution where the customer was using XP machines but now that XP is no longer supported and they use a piece of software that only works in win vista and newer, they can no longer do this. Do you have any suggestions?

Do you mean run DOSBox in a 32-bit OS? Or attempt to run the DOS program natively in a 32-bit system? As We've tried both of these methods.

Well then maybe, if nothing works in fullscreen it's time to make the call and say that it just won't run in full screen anymore.
That modern OS' have a problem running software developed for a 20+ years old OS (DOS). Either live with this or shell out big money and have someone develope a modern version of this.

Thank you for the replies, I understand that DOS is an old OS and no longer has support in a modern OS'. Just out of curiosity do you know of any other emulators or a workaround to allow DOSBox to run the program? Or am I just flogging a dead horse?

Do NOT use Dosbox for this. Be thankful it bugged out right away, Dosbox is not meant for mission critical apps.
There are other dos emus, bochs, quemu...
