Hi all, I have recently built a 486 pc. it has a 1.5gb hard drive with dos 7.10, a dual floppy drive and cd drive. The motherboard is a p486 p3, and the problem is as follows. The video card I wish to use and works with most of my games is a Tseng Labs ET4000ax 1mb video card. This video card as I said runs MOST of my games beautifully. However, I have 2 so far that I have found not to work. My copy of Predator 2 does NOT work with the video card. However it DOES work with a 256k tvga9000b Trident Video card. This completely stumps me. When I go to load the game, I go through dos, bring up the dir, then type in pred, and black screen with the 1mb card. Nothing else happens. Under the trident, it works fine. The tseng will load up to the attract screen for terminator 2 judgement day, but will not load further. Any ideas on WHY? Someone please help? The tseng plays others flawlessly. The trident looks weird. Like it has lines on the video. By the way, The predator game is not a copy. I DO own the original set of 2 floppy discs and would be more than happy to post pics to prove this if asked, same goes for the t2 game.

I know that, but I dont understand why. The tseng plays almost all of my games flawlessly.

I've had wierd issues with the ISA et4000 as well. Never had a game that wouldn't play but I have had games that display wierd lines like VCR tracking lines on a few games like Ultima VII and quake (used quake for benchmarking)

The ET4000 cards is generally known to be very compatible, but this game might be one of the few that does not work. If I can find the game I can give it a try in my 386 with an ISA ET4000.

I went ahead and ordered up a mach32 vlb card. The et4000 simply would not load up t2, predator 2, or nightmare on elm street. Hopefully the mach32 will do better. just sucks because the et4000 didn't make it look like I am viewing pictures layered with scotch tape.

If you have a VLB system you shouldn't be using an ISA card anyway

You will do much better with a VLB card since it will be faster

I use a 2mb VLB card in my 486 based on the ET4000 and I've played a ton of stuff on it and haven't run into the same "tracking lines" issues I have with 2 different Tseng ISA cards. The games without issues do look really nice on a tseng ISA though. I use one in my 386 since it only has ISA.
