Hello - my installation did not integrate itself into explorer, so I have to run the dosdrv program. However, when I do I get a cryptic error message for all the dlls:

Unable to Instantiate Installation Module "name_of_dll"

Numbers - Invalid Class String (VDMS.INI:66)

Do you wish to continue?

The message is the same with previous versions of the software.

If i would be you, i would uninstall it, make sure i have admin rights and then proceed to reinstalling it.

Oh believe me, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I am the only person on this computer and am absolutely positive I have administrator rights.

Are you using the latest 2.1.0 beta?

i am experiencing exactly the same thing and it seems there are many others with same problems.
if u installed 2.10 beta, uninstalled it b'cuz it's not working, install 2.04 again, then u get this problem.

in my opinion, 2.10 is an utter crap. it messes up some of ur set variables, it does not integrate into shells on many computers, and after installing this, u r not able to use 2.04 anymore.

wat kind of a crappy upgrade is this? is this actually by a same author? if it is by different author, that author did one assed job of upgrading.

xjis, if you are not satisfied with VDMSound, I am sure you can get a full refund of your money. After the refund, go buy SoundFX! 🤑

For the record, VMDSound 2.1.0 installed and integrated fine on my WinXP system.

Now, please go away 😠

minimax, i wasn't talking to you, so you please go away.

and your ignorant post misses all my points.

and whether or not vdmsound 2.1 integrated fine on your own computer has nothing to do with the rest of us whose computers didn't.

For the record, VMDSound 2.04 installed and integrated fine on my WinXP system.

now does that concern you any?

i didn't think so.

so stop talking about your own winXP system and go away.

OK!!!! I found the FIX!!!

this was caused by some Windows operating systems having corrupted information concerning the registration state of ATL.DLL. The fix is to simply run the following
command:

regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\ATL.DLL

After doing this, you can successfully install 2.10 (with successful shell integration), or if you wish to, install 2.04 without any registering dll problems!!!! yay!
