I have an ISO of Entomorph and it seems to install just fine but when I try to run it in Windows 3.1 via DOSBox I get the Unexpected Error 21 message. Has anyone gotten this game to work? I've seen that it should work in 3.1 so I'm not sure what's wrong. I have installed Win32. Are there sertain settings I need to adjust? Thanks!

AFAIR, Entomorph cd have CDA tracks. So - if you have .iso - please go bug the source of this .iso. Tnx.
P.S. To fix this error - install/update Win32s from the Entomorph cd. Delete windows\system\win32s, start Win3x (ignore the message about w32s.386), install.

I apologize for not being more clear: I do in fact have the CD as a bin/cue.

I followed your advice and reinstalled Win32 from the game CD and now the game runs. However, the first enemy I encounter, when I try to attack him the game crashed giving me the following error:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The instruction at 88464FFB referenced memory at 104F4E4C
The memory could not be read from

Click on OK to terminate the application
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any thoughts on whats happening here?

UPDATE: I tried installing and running the game on a separate installation of DOSBox that I run off a flashdrive and this time the error message was: NOT ENOUGH MEMORY TO START THE GAME

Perhaps I need to make some sort of adjustment in DOSBox's settings? Or in the Autoexec.bat?

You need to ask the website in which you downloaded the game or get a legal copy then ask us about it.

I already said I didn't download it. I own the CD I just made a bin of it because I'm working on a DOSBox machine that has no CD drive. Just wanted some help getting it working...

I also have Entomorph , it's a &(#!^$()$&^ to get it working.
Try a DosBox configuration that has only 8MB of RAM and install these win32s files , I am sure you will get it working , the game has problems with how much ram you have available 😵

Is that like memsize=8 ? I tried that and got the same result: game crashes when I attack the first enemy.

Ahhh Entomorph! I used to play this on my first computer (486 DX4-100). Thanks for bringing back memories 😀

Not helpful in the slightest but I had to get it off my chest...

Yeah I had Win32s installed already at the beginning of this when the game wouldn't run at all...Then I reinstalled it from the Entomorph CD and the game ran after that...It just crashes at the first enemy...I've tried changing the color depth and screen resolution too...Same results...

well, I 'm all out of ideas...
I couldn't get it running on a real pc but I always assumed it was because I was using a pentium1+128MB of ram ... the game does have the ram issue btw

1) There is Entomorph 1.1 patch.
2) The readme recommends NOEMS option. So - try DOSBox with [dos]/ems=false.

I already had the patch applied and I just tried with ems=false but it didn't work either...

I appreciate all the advice but I may just have to give up on this one...

Any reason why you wouldn't just run it in a 32-bit Windows environment? Why DOSBox for that one?

Because in Win95/98/Xp you always get "not enough memory" error.

I use a memory allocation program and it works like a charm. It appears as long as you limit the amount of available ram the game will run fine.
