Hey guys,
Is it possible to incorporate VDMSound onto boot disks to work with pure-dos-only games like Crusader, and if so, what command lines do I add to Config.sys/autoexec.bat?

If it is not possible to run VDMSound in pure DOS mode, is there any SB emulator capable of doing so?

Nope, VDMSound is for Windows NT/2K/XP, etc.

What motherboard & sound card do you have?

Motherboard: Intel 86510A
Sound: Running off Motherboard (Through SoundMax! driver)
I've just found out I can run the game through DOSBox... But the program doesn't seem to detect the on/off condition of the Caps Lock or Num lock (both of which the game uses extensively). Problems, problems...

Rumours have it, that the next version of DOSBox will be much better in handling all those special keys.

Other than that, the only solution I can think of is if you can find a real-mode DOS driver for your Intel/SoundMax sound card.

Actually, I just got C:NR up and running and it seems DOSBox can detect and report shift and caps lock. I do notice, however, that it sometimes misses me pressing the shift key... so I have to press it once or twice.

But hell, the 486/66-SX2 I used to play this game on has a crappy old AT keyboard and the numeric pad + key sticks like mad. I can't say I'm that disappointed. 😜
