I find it very hard to call for a "better" one on nearly each of those videos. (doom is an exception, roland >> *)
There's always a part of each song I prefer on one module/sound card compared to the other.
I'd rather have a piece of yamaha bass, some roland treble and some AWE effects all together 😁

It's 1993 again: Here I recorded all the music from the old MS-DOS game DOOM and played with the Creative Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold.
The video is almost an hour long so perfect for letting it run in the background while listening to it. List of songs with time markers in the description.

Old computers often have BIOS limitations that cannot handle large hard drives.
Using Dynamic Disk Overlay software these barriers can be overcome.
In this video I am demonstrating how Dynamic Disk Overlay can be used to install a 32 GB harddrive in an old 386 computer.

Doom is too demanding for a 386, but it is great at comparing performance as it really stressed the entire system.
The results are at the very end of the video.
It's a good game to test old retro parts and I like to document the performance so others can use it as a reference. Be it for tuning their emulators or for comparing their retro computer and checking if everything is ok.
The hardware components are shown in the video, so are some common DOS benchmarks.

Wing Commander is a game that is very speed sensitive. Is your PC too slow and it will be a slide show, is your PC too fast and you will find it difficult hunting down that last remaining enemy 😀

And this one was a lot of work and is quite special to me. It's about Far Cry! Do you know it's now just over 10 years old? I believe it's still processing, it's my first 2160p30 production and the upload was 9 GB and took days, so well worth waiting for the higher resolutions to become available as YouTube processes the video.
It is 10 years ago that Far Cry launched.

I did use cheat codes to make it a bit easier 😊
Typing idkfa gives you health, all weapons and keys.
To jump from level to level I used idclev followed by episode and map number with no spaces. E.g. idclev 12 gets to the second map in the first episode.
I configured the controls WASD + mouse. Using a TSR utility novert.com you can disable moving forward / backwards with the mouse.
I must say it was a joy to play! I used an old Logitech MX500 something mouse with a USB > PS/2 adapter for better gaming 😀
USB data transfer to slow in your Windows 98 machine?
Using a PCI USB 2.0 controller you can get 20x the transfer speed!
The controller is cheap and based on an NEC chip with 5 USB 2.0 ports. The driver ships with the Windows 98 SE disc and only the USB storage driver is needed.
