Few years ago I bought a Compaq Deskpro XL and recently I took some photos of it. I wanted to share them, because this PC is quite unique.

First, it has EISA and PCI. While I don't think it makes sense to use EISA when you have PCI slots available, it still is quite a rare sight. The motherboard uses a special riser for the CPU board - it would work with a 486, Pentium and Pentium Pro - they called it the "Tri-Flex architecture". I have a card with a Pentium 60 and one with a Pentium 133. The P60 uses the 430LX chipset and the Pentium 133 uses an unknown Samsung chipset. The motherboard has integrated LAN, SCSI (both provided by AMD PCnet scsi) and sound. You can see an odd port on the back - it's for the keyboard which included speakers - I have a photo of it, but the forum limits me to 5 attachments so I can't upload it.

Huh, there could be some interesting upgrade paths for that Pentium board and the PPro board if the CPUs are socketed. Something like a PL-K6-III (K6-3 in Socket5) or PL-Pro/II (up to celeron 700 in socket8) could be fun to mess with. 😁

Yes, they are socketed. Unfortunately I don't have any of these adapters to test it.

Lol I'm liking the extremely 90's Digimon sticker. 😜

Very cool computer!

Check me out at Transcendental Airwaves on Youtube! Fast-food sucks!

That's interesting. I just noticed that most (all?) Compaq Deskpros (no matter what year they're from) that don't have the floppy drive openings embedded in the front bezel have a floppy drive in one of the 5,25" external drive bays. I guess that's a Deskpro thing.
