I would try without the VIA AGP driver and see if that solves the issue.
I rarly find any issues with using the AGP slot as a 66 MHz PCI slot on VIA socket 7 boards.
If you need the AGP slot to work as an AGP slot I would try another VIA 4 in 1 driver package.

Well, i did not install any VIA AGP driver at all so maybe that's the issue? Everything seems to be working according to the windows device manager and no driver is missing.

One thing i didn't do is to test with another PCI sound card but i guess it's irrelevant since this is the sound card i really want to use, and i know for a fact that it is working properly.

Try setting the soundcard into another pci slot.
It could be that irq sharing messes things up

Already did that with similar results. I also tried different video cards and the results are always the same. I should probably look for other win98 sb pci128 drivers but this shouldn't be required. These are the original drivers of the sound card and never let me down.

Describe "glitched". Maybe a recording attached?

I had issues with Live! cards under Windows 98SE. My solution is to stick with Vortex 2 based cards for Windows 98 😀

I remember that some cards (most noticeable on SB Live!) didn't work correctly because of PCI latency. In fact, there was some utilities to cope with this (but I don't remember their name).

If you google about sound blaster pci latency, you'll find some articles that could be useful.

Yeah it's probably a PCI latency problem. I've heard it myself with Ensoniq AudioPCI before. SBPCI128 is an AudioPCI in disguise. It's a pretty common problem for PCI sound cards in general.

Yep. Via chipsets are notorious for a variety of problems that may or may not arise.

I see that I am not the only one having the same issue regarding the FIC-PA-2013.
I had the same issue when running it, using a K6-3 400MhZ and Win98SE

Hi back again. I won't be uploading a audio sample of the issue because it isn't worth the trouble. I can never solve it completly. It is a problem of latency yes and the patch works a bit but not much. I've tried a SB pci 128, a SB live 5.1 and a SB ISA 16bit all with similar results. It almost worked perfectly with the live 5.1 and the via patch but the sound would still crackle and sounded slow.
VIA chipsets and SoundBlaster sound cards just don't get along well..at least if you're using a nvidia card on the agp slot. I gave up the Geforce 2 GTS on this system and replaced it with a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP. Yes it might be a bit of a waste to use such a voodoo video card on a AMD k6-2 500Mhz but since it's my first cpu ever i think it deserves it 😀
Also it will be running mostly 3dfx based games so i guess it can't hurt much and at least i get to use my SB pci 128 sound card which was also my first bought sound card.
Still this via pci latency problem is a bummer to deal with.
