Perhaps an experienced exorcist would help... There is surely a demon in your computer. Never use it again without having enough holy water!

But seriously: it is very difficult to help you with such a general problem from the other end of the world. Try to find somebody with a bit of computer experience who can directly look on your computer. I guess it will be some trivial thing.
Nothing is without a reason, you or somebody else had to do something wrong, though you perhaps did not realize it.

done it... no luck

if i try to run something (made for dos) i get the prompt back immediately.

uh-oh. not good. do you still have a ntvdm.exe on your system? a wowexec?
